On the left is Jennifer Robins, daughter of Elaine. Jenny played the clarinet to accompany the choir in several numbers. She is 16 years old and is hoping to go on to study Music, Welsh and IT for her A level examinations after excellent GCSE results. Jenny also plays the saxophone, bassoon and piano and in her leisure time likes to play football and go canoeing. The choir prides itself in encouraging the development of musical talent in young people.
On the right is Jim Mitchell. Jim was born in Bristol but his father comes from Gelligaer. His grandfather was a coal miner so it was appropriate that he sang the solo part in ‘A Working Man’. A bass baritone he was taught singing by Arthur Reckless who also tutored Bryn Terfel. Jim has sung with the BBC West of England Singers and also with the Western Opera Players
